Contact Improvisation classes
Wednesday 7 October 2015 6:00pm - 8:00pm
St Margaret's House

Contact Improvisation is a collective movement form for everyone, all ages and all levels warmly welcome, from total beginners to experienced movers.

In the classes, we learn to utilize Contact Improvisation techniques in movement composition in a safe and creative way. We do solo, partner and group work which all are supporting the variety of layers in Contact Improvisation. Where does my dance lead me when I learn to trust and surrender to the movement flow? What is possible in dance?

Contact Improvisation is a collective movement form for everyone, all ages and all levels warmly welcome, from total beginners to experienced movers.

Contact Improvisation form was founded 1972 by Steve Paxton. It is a physical dialogue, in which movers propel movement by touch, gravity, shared weight and momentum. Dance fine tunes your senses and wakes up your ability to listen and respond to what is happening in the moment. Dancers are moving in and out of physical contact while rolling, spiraling, falling and sliding. Dancers are connected to themselves and others by sensing and listening, mutually supporting and following each others movements. When body and mind are united, we start to honor every moment in connectivity and surrender to the unknown.

Areas of focus:
* Body awareness and listening
* Movement fluidity
* Experimental anatomy
* Gravity, core and weight giving
* Lifting techniques
* Embodied presence
