Community Artists – Tender Invitation
Dumbiedykes Community Arts Project, Edinburgh

Arts, Identity and Pride– Inspired by You!

We are looking for an experienced Community Artist/s to work with local residents in Dumbiedykes to deliver a Community Arts Project. The Project will engage and involve the community to develop an art installation focused around the themes of pride and identity, people and place.

Who are we?

Spirit of Dumbiedykes is part of the Spirit 2012 Trust’s Commonwealth Games Legacy programme, Fourteen. The programme aims to extend the reach of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games by investing in activities that local people themselves believe will make a difference to the well-being and happiness of their community.

Since 2015 a community panel has been involved in running community events, commissioning activity and distributing grants for Projects that meet one or more of the following priority themes: sports and physical activity, volunteering and social action, youth development and arts and culture.

The Panel are now keen to invest in a community arts project that involves residents in creating an art installation (transient or permanent) that symbolises pride and identity,people and place.

What you will do:

 Coordinate and deliver workshops/outreach sessions to inspire the participation of the Dumbiedykes citizens;

 Establish a resource group from the community who you’ll work with to create and produce the art installation;

 Provide regular updates to the Spirit of Dumbiedykes Panel and wider community;

 Undertake evaluation of the Project.

Budget

£15,000 inclusive of VAT (where applicable) to include artists’ fee, all community events/workshops, all materials and installation costs and any travel expenses.

How to apply

Proposals are to be made in writing and should include an overview of how you would deliver this project including your preferred medium, a breakdown of budget, timescale for delivery and any relevant experience you have.
